Biography
In Web development since 1994, Shelley’s primary focus was e-commerce integration for small business prior to joining the communications team at Southern Arkansas University at Magnolia in 2005. She is the sole Web professional on a 100-year-old campus with more than 3000 undergraduate students, a thriving graduate studies program, and 400 faculty and staff. Shelley’s primary focus is now managing a variety of content providers and juggling the site needs of several dozen departments while also supporting recruiting and retention initiatives campuswide. She also handles all social networking and outgoing e-mail marketing communication for the entire University and has been honored with district CASE awards yearly from 2006-2009 for her work. In 2010 she was inducted into both Alpha Chi and Beta Gamma Sigma academic honor societies and won two first place awards for Management and Information Management at the Phi Beta Lambda state leadership conference.
Shelley is entering her fourth year on the Program Committee for the Higher Education Web Professionals (HighEdWeb) conference, is actively involved with the higher education and WordPress communities online, displays all the symptoms of Twitter addiction (@shelleykeith) and may have actually launched the first University Facebook page. Currently in the midst of a campus-wide WPMU implementation, she’s incredibly happy the days of 16,000 static pages and duplicated template files are behind her.
One day she’d like for CSS to stop hating her. Fingers crossed.
